Celebrating Success

In Axis Security’s sixth annual National Security Awards Ceremony the company celebrated the successful achievements and extraordinary efforts of employees during the previous year.

Held at the RAC Club in London, the event saw the presentation of three awards; National Team of the Year, Security Employee of the Year and London Team of the Year. Customers and Axis Security Account Management Teams were responsible for nominating the Axis employees who they felt had gone the extra mile.

John Sephton, Axis Security Manager to Woking Shopping Centre was awarded Security Employee of the Year. John Fitzpatrick, Axis Security London Operations Director, presented the award that recognised the remarkable work that has been done in improving security in Woking Shopping Centre:

“John has implemented a restorative justice scheme, which is an alternative to legal action, whereby shoplifters are given the opportunity to face up to the consequences of their crimes by meeting with the victims and learning about how shoplifting affects businesses and leads to further criminality.”

“There has been a 20 percent reduction in crimes relating to theft from Woking Shopping Centre and surrounding property, with a marked reduction in thefts of bikes and goods from nearby retailers,” continues Fitzpatrick. “John was also responsible for amalgamating Woking’s two shopping centre’s security provision and his success resulted in him being nominated for the Security Officer of the Year award at the 2013 Security Excellence Awards. Sadly he did not win, but we are delighted to offer him this award.”

Richard Jemson, Axis Security’s National Operations Director made special mention to the National Team of the Year award nominees, the teams at the University of Leeds for its Police Award; the team at Caterpillar NI in the province and the Manchester NHS team.

This year’s National Team winners were the team at Sage Gateshead and Paul Marshall, the company’s Head of Building Services presented the award to Colin Gibson, Axis Security Shift Supervisor. The team was praised in letters by the CEO, HR Director and Facilities Director who all commented on the exemplary customer service of the team: “They appropriately and professionally welcome acts ranging from Slade to symphony orchestras,” says Paul. “I’m delighted they are being recognised for their hard work.”

Last, but not least, Toby Thornley, Security Manager at Ark Data Centres, Spring Park, presented Paul King, Axis Security Site Manager with London Team of the Year. The security team at Ark Data Centres has been commended for maintaining a firm, but approachable manner at all times, for their ‘can-do-will-do’ attitude, participation in projects and willingness to assist in any way.

Jonathan Levine, CEO of Axis Group, is proud to see yet another year or excellence on the ground: “To hear such positive feedback from our customers reinforces how proud and grateful we are to the officers who really do go the extra mile. They are a credit to us.”
